The Landscape Visualization and Modeling Lab, is a collaboration between PLUS - Planning of Landscape and Urban Systems of Professor Adrienne Grêt-Regamey and the Chair of Christophe Girot in Landscape Architecture.
The lab focuses on developing new methods in the representation, modeling, visualization, analysis and design of landscapes. The LVML aims to blur the scales of modeling and visualization, dealing simultaneously with the refined design of spaces, the feasibility of large scale landscape architecture projects, and the realm of spatial analysis and planning.
The Visualization and Modeling Lab seeks to extend the boundaries of contemporary spatial, landscape and environmental planning through the full integration of current technology into methodologies of spatial analysis, assessment, development of objectives and actions, decision-making and participatory planning. Education and training programs for landscape visualization and modeling are offered at various levels of users ensuring the knowledge transfer to research and praxis.
Various software and hardware solutions are being combined to seek new thresholds in the perception and portrayal of the environment. The combination of landscape scanning, 3D renderings and animations, interactive virtual 3D models and milled modeling allow new techniques to be tested in the fields of landscape representation, analysis, design and participative planning.
The landscape projects researched and taught within this Lab will significantly contribute towards the development and production of sustainable living environments considering economical, energetic, ecological and social aspects.
