Consilium Campus development Gießen

More than half a billion euros will be available to the University of
Giessen in the next few years - from the HEUREKA investment program of the
German Government . What is required is an overall concept for
spatial and building development, in which the individual investment projects can be
embedded - a complex task to a university with nine different locations.

The campus development Consilium (GCC) is engaged since autumn last year
with this task. Several development opportunities for the University Campus have being explored performing a competition of ideas through test planning procedures including four well-known planning teams. Based on the results of the teams, the development of an action programme can be gradually achieved by the
Consilium, through the interaction between University, City and State of Hessen.
In addition to senior representatives of the university, the Hessian
Ministries of Science and Art as well as Finance, the Hessian
construction-management and the city of Gießen, belong to the Consilium
experts from the fields of architecture, open space planning, urban and
transport development. The process is chaired by Dr. Bernd Scholl, Professor of the Institute of
Spatial  and Landscape Development of the Swiss Federal Institute of
Technology (ETH) in Zurich.
